Role of a Coach

The role of an outrigger coach is to plan safe, effective training programs for their club.

A coach's 'Duty of Care' responsibilities must remain central to their everyday coaching strategies:

  • Sessions should be planned and documented.
  • Back up plans should be readily available.
  • Paddler concerns should always be followed up.
  • Under no circumstances should paddlers, other water users or the equipment be endangered.
Minimum Coaching Qualifications

The following are the minimum qualifications required for an outrigger coach. If your club's coach does not have these qualifications, the insurance for your club members may be affected.
